Renaissance tales and songs for young and old at the Château Royal de Blois

Featuring tales and songs from the Middle Ages and Renaissance, this lively show follows the adventures of “The wolf, the fox and the weasel” during which spectators listen to stories, sing songs, claps their hands and stamp their feet to the sound of the hurdy-gurdy and even take to the floor and dance! Discover the château’s history as you’ve never seen it before! As night falls, the castle becomes the backdrop for a truly unforgettable experience. A festival of special sound effects and huge projected images will highlight the grandiose architecture of the courtyard and bring the history of France to life, as the romances, dramas and secrets of the lives of its kings and queens are presented to you. Simultaneous translation via audio system in English, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Portuguese, Chinese and Japanese.

Château Royal de Blois – Traditional fencing and early music show

“Vinaigrette et pousse rapière” show - Once again this summer the courtyard of the château will be the setting for fencing combats full of humour and panache, with swashbuckling swordsmen engaged in combat to relive the age of the duel. To the rythyms of the lute and bagpipes, professional swordsmen and women expert in the art of traditional fencing will re-enact the unique combats that might have been part of the history of the château. Grand Mascarade: costumed ball at the Château Royal de Blois

For this evening event, head back in time to experience the atmosphere of the grand costumed balls held during Carnival. Playing bagpipes, hurdy-gurdies, violins, clarinets, percussion instruments and the accordeon, our musicians will perform a mix of traditional and recent melodies with love and humour. Royal music at the court of Blois

The Le Banquet du Roy ensemble entertains spectators with the sounds of the Renaissance by bringing back to life music which once marked the daily rhythms of life in the château. Château Royal de Blois - Demonstration of Renaissance dances

Head back in time to the French court during the Renaissance, a period when the arts flourished and decorum was all important, and enjoy the spectacle of dances such as the Pavane, Branle, Allemande, Gaillarde and Volta. For the occasion, dancers will be dressed in their finest costumes, all of which are authentic replicas taken from paintings of the time. Saturdays at 3pm and 4.30pm. © Danse et danceries

The Château Royal de Blois invites visitors to discover the typically French art of 16th century dancing through this unconventional festive event which is open to all. Château Royal de Blois – The Night of the Duke of Guise

At night, the ghosts of the past come to life at the Château Royal de Blois. On 23 December 1588, the Duke of Guise was assassinated at the castle.
